Why we built it

150 million people use Goodreads — and a fair chunk of them write 1-star reviews about it. "Unusable on mobile." "Sells me to Amazon." "Stuck in 2008." The complaints are real. StoryGraph and Fable are nicer, but they're still social platforms first, trackers second.

BookCard is the opposite. It's a tracker. That's it. Your shelf lives on your phone. We don't even have an account system unless you want iCloud sync. Nothing leaves the device by default.

What's inside

• Library — every book you've ever read, want to read, or DNF'd, in a clean grid you can sort and filter however you want.
• Half-star ratings — finally. That book that was almost a 4 is a 3.5.
• Mood tags — cozy, haunting, comfort-reread, slow-burn, devastating. A curated vocabulary, not 100k user-noise tags.
• Barcode scanner — point at the back of a book. Open Library does the rest.
• Reading log — per-book session notes, pages, minutes.
• Stats — books this year, longest streak, top moods, last 12 months chart.
• Open in Books — deep-link to Apple Books from any title.

What's not inside

• No third-party trackers. No analytics SDKs. No crash SDKs.
• No Amazon. No retail affiliate noise.
• No social feed, no friend graph, no comment threads.
• No account required. Sign in with Apple is optional and only used for iCloud sync.

Pricing

BookCard is free for unlimited books, scanning, rating, and reading log. A single $4.99 one-time payment unlocks Goodreads CSV import, iCloud sync, and custom shelves. That's it. No subscription. No upgrade nag.
